hit the reset button

I was so honoured when my friend, Joao Guedes, invited me to assist him at his Vancouver Workshop this October. The world is a different place now and I have missed traveling and meeting up with my fellow photographer friends, so this was a breath of fresh air!

I first met Joao and attended one of his workshops at a photography conference in 2018. He is GOALS! The man is too humble to admit it but he’s quite frankly a legend. His work is so dreamy and oozes emotion. If you are not yet following him on Instagram - get on it!

This Vancouver Boudoir Workshop was small and intimate (keeping with our new normal) So all the attendees received ample time to photograph the lovely model, Stephanie Jean Rose.

Joao is so methodical, unlike myself, in how he approaches his sessions. It was a great reminder to my high energy self and ADHD brain to take pause, breathe and just be present in the moment. As well, he managed to reignite my creative soul. I took a journey back to younger feels and reconnected with my intuitive self.

I approached the post production of these images much differently than I usually do. And I ain’t mad about it!
They are softer, and have a more muted colour palette. I don’t know if this new style of editing will stick but it was fun to try something new and step outside my comfort zone. I used Kate Whyte’s KWB3 preset for the colour images and Embrace Nation’s FashionBW1 from the Runway Collection on the B+W images.

I am excited to get back into my own little studio and hit the reset button - see it in a new and refreshing way. Much love.

xoxo
